Pass the jam

You all know how much I love my weekends away right? Well this weekend courtesy of Groupon, we packed our bags and took a little trip to the middle of nowhere in Shropshire. We've been crazy busy recently, days at work, evenings working on my Stella & Dot venture, and when I'm not doing either of those, my time is spent renovating my house. It's never ending, so I was so glad when Groupon got in contact and offered me some downtime.

I'm quite a regular user of deal sites, but I've never used Groupon for a weekend away so thought it the perfect opportunity to utilise and review the site, and all in all I had a pretty good experience.

We booked our weekend at The Old Rectory and had no problems booking in with our Groupon voucher, although I do feel that you're a little less welcomed compared with full paying guests. The Old Rectory is beautiful country house set in the Shropshire countryside. I literally felt like I was just staying in someone's house, it was very grand, a played down Downton Abbey, and we had a really nice stay. The breakfast was nice enough if a little small, but the homemade jam made up for everything!

The Shropshire countryside is amazing! We passed through tonnes of incredible villages, one even had a stand on the side of the road offering homemade jam if you just popped your money in to the tin. I wish I'd stopped to take a picture, stuff like that does not happen everyday, I felt like I was back in 1950!

We had a gorgeous dinner at Panama Hatty's, which we just happened to come across on our travels, took a trip to Powis Castle where we saw beautiful designs from India, and also visited Wightwick Manor to take a look at William Morris' designs and art, Jared wasn't keen on this one, but I love art history so I was completely in my element!

Thanks Groupon for your fantastic deals and excellent service and for making this weekend one to remember.
